W/C 25th March: Firefighters

To continue our learning and to enhance our ‘People Who Help Us’, we had a visit from a firefighter this week. We learnt so many different facts about their role and how to keep ourselves safe through our excellent questioning and listening skills. We tried on all of the uniform and had lots of fun taking on the role of a firefighter in our outdoor play.

W/c 18th March: Spring!

This week we have been learning about Spring. We have made some fabulous spring flower observational paintings and made some blossom for our class tree in our finger gym. Outdoors, we were detectives and went on a Spring hunt. We used a checklist and ticked off the items as we found them. All of the children were very keen to share what they had found during circle time.

W/c 11th March: Police Visit

This week has been such a busy week in Nursery! Across school, we celebrated science week. In nursery we experimented with colour mixing, followed a recipe to make our own playdough and were engineers, building bridges with spaghetti and playdough. We also carried out some experiments with skittles and hot water. We made predictions and then observed what happened – we made a rainbow! To enhance our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic, we had a visit from our local community support officer to talk to us about the role of the police officer. We thought of some questions to ask before he arrived and we did some fantastic listening to find out the answers. During the morning, we got to try on the uniform – we looked like real police officers! We also tried the handcuffs on for size! We learnt lots of facts about the Police and we had a few children say they would like to be a police officer when they grow up.
